About us

We first joined Agapé to be involved in that scary-but-fun world of youth and schools work and led the team in the North East for a number of years.

Since that time, we have mixed the front-line work of helping people to know Jesus and grow in their faith with a number of other people-focussed roles within Agapé - roles that support the staff and organisation.

Lesley has balanced motherhood, bringing up two very cool and smart kids, alongside leadership roles, particularly focussing on developing leaders. She has been the UK Director of Agapé since 2011
Paul (now a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) has found himself in a number of roles focussing on the care and development of staff in the UK, Europe and now across the world. He is currently the Global Director of Resourcing (HR)

Agapé

Agapé in the UK has been making Jesus known by helping people encounter God’s unconditional love where they study, work and live, for the past 50 years.

We are best known in the UK for our Student Life work amongst university students who don’t yet know Jesus. We also have a Work Life movement helping graduates and business leaders make Jesus known in the workplace. Our Family Life work helps strengthen relationships through Biblical principles whatever people’s faith background. Our Global Life work with people in and from other nations.  The work extends from diplomats to refugees.

We have a heritage in producing materials like theKnowing God Personally booklet and the Jesus film and more recently, resources like Soularium and the Biscuit Trail. All these materials have been designed to enable people like you to be equipped to talk about your faith with those you work with or live amongst. We are very committed to partnering with other organisations like “trypraying” to help everyone in our cities to hear and respond to the person and claims of Jesus.

Agapé is the UK name for Campus Crusade for Christ International. Globally, we have around 20,000 staff in 192 countries

Paul
Paul’s role is to equip leaders & HR teams around the world to care for and develop their mission staff more effectively. His team is spread over 12 time zones (Orlando to Singapore) which makes for an interesting working day!

Lesley
Lesley’s role as UK Director is to give overall leadership to each of the UK ministry areas mentioned above and to the hundred+ staff in and from the UK. She is also part of the Leadership Team for Agapé Europe.  A major focus of her role is also connecting and partnering with leaders of other Christian organisations and Churches.

All of the work of Agapé around the world relies on the prayer, encouragement and financial support of individual believers like you, who choose to partner with us. You could do this in a number of different ways:

Keeping up to date

We’d love to send you our email updates and occasional prayer letters and always find it really encouraging when folk have a chance to drop a quick response back. We can be a bit erratic in communication and we know it can be tricky to really understand our roles, so we always appreciate people asking questions!

Praying

Nothing of any significance is going to happen without people’s prayer. We would really value you joining our team of pray-ers to ensure that all we do is built on a bedrock of prayer. It’s only God who changes lives and enables us to be effective in the things he calls us to. Please do join us in this.

Financially Supporting

We, like all our core staff, raise funds to cover our salary and local expenses. The majority of this comes from individuals like you who partner with us, financially supporting us on a monthly basis. We’d really appreciate you considering being involved in this way, particularly at the moment as we need to increase our partners. You can give by clicking here if you live in the UK, or by clicking here if you are in the US (it just says "International staff", but you are giving to us! Thanks!)

Joining In

Maybe God is starting to urge you to jump in with both feet yourself and get involved in what we do. Have you ever considered this? Let us know if you'd like to find out more about volunteering, going on a project or joining our staff team.
